Founded in 1931, the Institute represents over 85% of North American fastener manufacturing capacity, as well as support products and services as offered by our associate supplier members. Together, we are working to advance the technology, engineering, and application of fasteners and formed parts, as well as meeting the challenge of introducing electronic commerce to our business environment. United States fastener manufacturing sales increased by 7.4% in 1999 for a total $7.02 Billion, 34% or $2.62 Billion of which is consumed by the auto and truck industries. Our Division III members are predominately suppliers to this market, and come together with common interests and concerns.
