Maryland Wire Belts, a manufacturer and international marketer of metal conveyor belts, was founded in 1972 by two mechanical engineers whose experience in metal conveyor belt manufacturing convinced them that metal conveyor belt technology could be significantly improved. Improvements in belt performance and belt life could be achieved through design changes, and manufacturing times could be shortened through an investment in sophisticated manufacturing equipment. New weaving methods were needed to hold the required close tolerances not possible with manual controls. So, the two engineers began to design and build their own machines. Twenty-four years later, they still do.
