Worldwide demand for bauxite is expected to reach sales of 191.7 million metric tons and the alumina market is expected to achieve 70.3 million metric tons by 2015.
Growth-wise, Asia-Pacific is projected to be the fastest growing regional market for bauxite and alumina, driven by China, India and other emerging regions. But the increasing difficulties of access to bauxite resources in Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia due to regulatory restrictions on exporting natural resources, coupled with the uncertainty of alumina pricing system and the impact of energy constraints towards alumina production, mean the industry is facing a new era of challenges.
Based on the success of Metal Bulletin’s Bauxite & Alumina Seminar over the past 17 years, we are delighted to be launching the Asian version of the event in Singapore this October
